Do I need to share my Supabase database password?

Accepted Answer

Supported projects use Supabase OAuth to create and remove a temporary login for each backup. Supabase classifies that management action as Database write access; the login used for the backup itself is read-only. ReviveDB does not read, reset or store the production database password.

Doesn't Supabase already back up my database?

Accepted Answer

Yes, on Pro, Team and Enterprise, and you should keep those backups enabled. They cover the database and Auth data, but not Storage objects or Edge Functions. ReviveDB stores a separate copy outside Supabase and restore-tests the database.

Question 3

Is everything recoverable automatically?

Accepted Answer

No. Secret values are never copied, a new project has new API keys, and some queues and provider-managed settings require manual work. Configuration that Supabase does not expose to OAuth apps cannot be restored automatically. Each recovery report lists the remaining actions.

Question 4

Where is backup data stored?

Accepted Answer

In storage we manage, not a bucket you have to set up yourself. Backups are stored with server-side encryption in Europe today. Additional regions will appear only after they are approved and operational.

Question 5

Does backing up cost anything on the Supabase side?

Accepted Answer

Possibly. Database and Storage downloads count toward your Supabase egress allowance. If the project already uses most of its included egress, backups can add to the Supabase bill.

Is the free plan time-limited?

Accepted Answer

No. The free plan covers one Supabase project up to 1 GB with weekly backups and three rolling recovery points, with no card required and no trial expiry.
